Support Secretary Full Time

The Acute Intensive Care Unit is an extremely busy, seventeen bedded, combined intensive care unit (ICU) and high dependency unit (HDU) and the workload is unpredictable. The Support Secretary is a pivotal member of staff whose duties include responsibility for providing administrative and secretarial support to all the staff on the Unit.

To assist in providing an efficient administrative and secretarial service to the whole ICU team i.e. Consultants, Trainee Doctors, Senior nursing staff and medical teams, with particular focus on the Outreach Team and the management team within the Critical Care Directorate. The post holder will handle sensitive patient and personnel information with utmost confidentiality.


  • Provide administrative support to the Critical Care Outreach Service.

  • Assist in providing a secretarial service.

  • Deal promptly with a wide range of enquiries from staff, patients and relatives, in a caring and professional manner .

  • Diary Management, taking minutes and arranging meetings, preparing appropriate paperwork.

  • Assist in the Induction of Trainee Doctors on rotation to ICU.

  • Manage diaries for the senior team, meetings and appointments also organise papers for meetings.

  • Provide general administrative support to the senior team, including Critical Care Head of Nursing.
