Background



The School of Policy and Global Affairs is an internationally excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. It is home to about 2,500 students and over 100 staff in three departments (Economics, Sociology and Criminology, and International Politics). The School aims to attract outstanding members of academic staff who will produce world-leading and internationally excellent research of benefit to society; provide innovative and exciting programmes of study; and enrich the lives and enhance the career prospects of its students.


This part time role requires high level administrative support provision to the Senior Leadership within the School. Working closely with your counterpart, the post holder is responsible for a full range of executive support duties As part of a central communication point for staff both within the School and external clients.



Responsibilities



The role requires the role holder to be responsible for a varied range of tasks that need constant balancing. These are made up of a broad range of operational issues, and involve managing projects and resources, originating from various quarters and all having different priorities and timelines. Making sure these are met and delivered effectively and efficiently is essential to support the work of the Departments and School.



Person Specification



The successful candidate will have a background in executive support as well as substantial proven experience as assistant to a senior manager(s) with a flexible approach to work and a proven track record of diplomacy, negotiation and crisis management. They will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, be able to demonstrate committee meeting management and have strong IT abilities.

The role is a part time job share 10.5 hours a week and is available from January.

Subject to agreement, relevant Professional Services roles may be undertaken in a hybrid way. This involves a combination of working on campus and at home each week.
