Looking to be part of non-stop innovation? Join our Group Communications and Infrastructure team and you’ll work alongside experts in broadband, telephony, mobile, cloud and infrastructure. We’re the team that designs, builds, supports, and maintains the telecoms networks across the whole Sky Group. Together, we help Sky broadband, mobile and TV enter new markets by creating a single and secure infrastructure for the amazing content and services that keep our customers coming back for more. You will be based in Sky Studios Elstree, Sky’s brand-new Film Studio campus working alongside our technical support team.


What you’ll bring


Job Summary:


As a Junior IT Support Technician at our film studio, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems and users. You will be responsible for resolving technical issues, assisting users with IT-related concerns, and maintaining the overall IT infrastructure. This is an entry-level position that offers opportunity to gain practical experience in the exciting world of filmmaking and entertainment. A junior role, with excellent opportunity to progress and learn on the job and formally through existing training opportunities within Sky Studios Elstree.


The Person


We are looking for someone that is keen to learn, experience is a major plus, but not crucial. This is a role that will allow you to grow within it and progress within a large organisation at a pace your ability will decide. Whether you are straight out of University or have been working within the IT industry already, we have the environment to support all levels of applicant. The key requirement for this role is impassioned a genuine interest in all aspects of IT.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical support: Assist users with hardware and software issues, solving problems, and resolving technical difficulties promptly and efficiently within a high pressure environment.

  • Respond to IT support requests via phone, email, or in-person, and provide timely resolution or partner concern of issues to senior IT staff when vital.

  • Maintain IT infrastructure: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including system updates, patches, and backups to ensure the stability and security of the network and servers.

  • Network administration: Assist with network management tasks, such as user account management, network printer setup, and access control.

  • Asset management: Supervise and lead IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and inventory management.

  • Collaborate with IT team: Work closely with senior IT staff and other customers to resolve technical issues, provide IT solutions, and chip in to ongoing projects.

  • Stay updated with technology trends: Keep tabs on emerging technologies and industry standard processes to suggest improvements and implement new solutions where applicable.



Requirements:


  • Education: A formal qualification in information technology, computer science, or a related field would be an advantage.

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Windows and Mac operating systems, computer hardware solve, software installation, and basic networking concepts.

  • Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with end-users, understand their technical needs, and provide clear instructions to non-technical end users.

  • Problem-solving ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.

  • Great teammate: Ability to work closely with other team members and departments to achieve common goals.

  • Time management: Good organisational and multitasking skills to handle multiple support requests and prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, as required in the fast-paced film industry.

  • Passion for film and entertainment: An interest in the film industry and an understanding of its unique technological requirements would be advantageous.

Our studio campus is a 15-minute walk from Borehamwood train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from the station. We also have onsite parking and electric vehicle charging on site.
