IT Infrastructure Engineer Full Time

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will build, configure, and qualify IT solutions that address each customer's unique security needs on our cargo scanning systems. The primary function of this position is to develop, build and maintain all IT hardware, network infrastructure, and IT software configurations. The scope of this position includes hardware configuration validation, network configuration validation, software validation, documentation releases, and relevant software releases, in support of the ongoing health and maintenance of all product offerings. This role also serves the critical function of supporting cross-product obsolescence/legacy related issues associated with operations and service. You will be afforded direct mentorship guidance from the rest of our team, including a senior member of staff in the UK.


Product Development - Infrastructure Solutions



  • Implement IT network/systems solutions for existing and new product development efforts.

  • Implement computer networks, including local/wide area networks (LANs/WANs), intranets.

  • Participate in continuous sustaining engineering efforts to evaluate emerging network technologies to maximize performance, security & efficiency.

  • Periodically evaluate/test network performance, adjust and redesign network when applicable.

  • Product Development – IT Systems

  • Create or update computer purchase specifications based on system requirements.

  • Create or update computer hardware configurations based on product requirements.

  • Generate and submit requisitions for purchase of hardware/software items as required.

  • Work with purchasing/vendors to procure candidate computers for evaluation.

  • Evaluate candidate computers/associated hardware, qualify components evaluated.

  • Validate custom OS images for new or existing computers.

  • Work with product teams to qualify new system computers and/or OS images as required.

  • Operations – IT Systems Support:

  • Address IT system-related and/or computer hardware-related sustaining issues

  • Contribute to and participate in engineering change processes where applicable.

  • Support personnel to identify root cause of IT infrastructure related problems.

  • Support personnel to clarify new or existing processes.


Commissioning/Service – IT Systems Support:



  • Support commissioning/service personnel to find replacement solutions for legacy system components (such as computer, printers, trackballs, etc.)

  • Create service replacement kits, including documentation, to allow service personnel to implement technical solutions at customer system sites

  • Specify hardware FRU’s (field replacement units) where feasible for each configuration.

  • Report any quality problems or defects to a manager or a senior member, in order for a corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence


Candidate Experience



  • Proven years of related/applicable experience

  • Must be familiar with Windows OS (both server and workstation) including Active Directory

  • Must have experience with Windows imaging tools such as MDT

  • Must have working experience with configuring and troubleshooting Active Directory

  • Experience with virtualisation technologies e.g., Hyper-V, VMware is an advantage

  • Must have experience with securing Windows environments to CIS or similar hardening standards

  • Must have advanced experience in networking with VLAN, VPN, and Firewall configurations

  • Must have proven experience with network infrastructure design

  • Should have experience with Cisco networking equipment or be CCNA certified

  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize workload

  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work in a systematic and methodical manner

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills for software/firmware/hardware

  • Comfortable in working in a “non-office” environment, such as the production floor, demo, and site locations as needed.
