Salary: highly competitive £40,000 to £80,000




Our client has a high bar for cybersecurity intended to protect the core intellectual property and integrity of products and services whilst ensuring they are resilient to the impact of any events. They run modern technology stacks across all facets of the business and provide the underlying infrastructure and services to meet the demands of an agile and ever evolving business.




The majority IT infrastructure is hosted in the cloud with access managed by single sign-on (SSO) and multiple factor authentication (MFA). The on-premises infrastructure is strictly limited to provide end user devices, networking equipment, audio visual, and building management systems. Because of growth they are now recruiting for two IT Operations / Security Engineers a graduate level and experienced.

IT Operations / Security Engineer - About You

IT Operations / Security Engineer - Key Responsibilities



  • Manage user access to ensure everyone has sufficient access to do their role.

  • Regular assessments of network/system security posture.

  • Hands-on delivery of operational tasks, including physical installation of technology, cable patching, configuration, updates, etc.

  • Creation and maintenance of an automated IT asset inventory.

  • Working closely with teams across the business to understand requirements and deliver what they need.




Responsibilities will extend to all connected systems and services utilised by the business. On premises, this will include end user devices, networking, audio visual, building management systems, and building access control. In the cloud, this will include systems employed for software development, testing, staging, and production. In third-party cloud services, this will include collaboration (email, file storage etc.) and other productivity software.




Essential Skills



  • Hands on IT and systems architecture, implementation, and operations experience.

  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with a wide range of AWS services.

  • Proven track record of building infrastructure as code.

  • Deep knowledge and experience of core networking concepts, including switching, routing, firewalls, and VPNs etc.

  • Ability to code in Python, PowerShell and similar, to support DevOps automation.

  • Security operations design, deployment, and operations. Extensive experience of implementing effective security controls and operations in large or upscaling agile businesses.

  • Knowledge of or interest in office productivity technologies including audio visual, screen mirroring, unified communications, etc.

  • Fast learner able to quickly understand and adapt to new technologies.

  • Willingness to be hands-on in the delivery of operational tasks, including physical installation and configuration of equipment.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.




Desirable Knowledge & Skills



  • Our current infrastructure employs Fortigate (Cloud and on-premises), FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiAnalyzer, FortiClient EMS. Direct experience of all these technologies would be beneficial but is not essential.

  • Experience of managing Mac working environments.

  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.

  • Familiarity with containerization principles and frameworks such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.

  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as PRTG, CloudWatch etc.

  • Experience with TeamCity, Nexus Repository and GitHub Enterprise Server.

  • ISO27001 controls and governance.

  • GDPR related controls and governance.

Salary: Our client pays excellent salaries above the normal market level

Working hours:


Core hours are 9am to 5pm, with flexibility to start any time between 8am and 9.30am.
