Manchester in particular has been billed as the most diverse city in Europe with its population speaking at least 200 different languages, leading to the city being named as Britain’s “City of languages”. GMP are committed to ensure that the make-up of our workforce is reflective of the communities we serve and we recognise that having a diverse workforce makes us more approachable and relevant to the public. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Officer – Director of Human Resources , this is a key role in supporting the delivery of the Assistant Chief Officer’s executive responsibilities within a newly developing people function within the force. The candidate will work with colleagues from across the full portfolio under the leadership of the Director of Human Resources, including Recruitment, HR Business Partnering, Workforce Development, Learning and Development and Diversity, Equality and Inclusion and so any experience of working within a HR environment would be desirable although not essential. Joining the team as a Personal Assistant will be a rewarding and exciting role and professional and personal development available to the appointed individual. The role will require the successful candidate to provide excellent personal assistant, secretarial and diary management skills to support the Director of Human Resources. It will involve daily liaison with other senior officers within GMP Executive and leadership teams as well as other UK police forces and external organisations and stakeholders. You will need experience and background in supporting senior colleagues in a large and dynamic organisation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, an ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders and able to work autonomously to make decisions in support of the delivery of an effective office of the Director of Human Resources. You will need to prioritise your workload, work at a fast pace and often deliver to short deadlines. This is an exciting role, working at the most senior levels of GMP to deliver the vision of the Chief Constable to work to protect all those who live, work or visit Greater Manchester.
