Context


We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated IT Governance Manager to join our Asset Management IT technology team who will be responsible providing comfort that the IT function is positively impacting the achievements of business objectives through the adoption of robust IT Governance practices. The role will work on behalf of the Head of AM IT to support the development, definition, documentation, and implementation of the Group IT Governance framework to include providing advisory support, education, and effective monitoring of IT issues through to resolution and closure.


As part of this role the individual will be expected to be hands on undertaking various governance activities to include co-ordination of third line and third-party audit activity, contribute to ensuring strategic control and assurance activities are implemented and operated to Group standards, local standards and agreed risk appetites across the IT environment, leading independent reviews of IT processes and controls in order to enable effective IT risk management and strengthen overall governance within the AM IT functions and driving a proactive business focussed culture.


Key responsibilities



  • Support IT and Operations Governance & Assurance with:

    • Leading the scheduling and co-ordination of applicable audit activity, being a central point of contact between auditors, IT and Operations Managers and their Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

    • Reviewing the appropriateness of evidence provided to support closure of IT and Operations issues and Operational Events

    • Leading the production and maintenance of risk reporting mechanisms including IT and Operations issue management, IT and Operations Risk Heatmaps, IT and Operations Governance periodic reporting, periodic risk self-assessments and circulating outputs to relevant parties as required

    • Establishing and maintaining governance and control documentation and supporting the update of the IT and Operations Governance information repositories


  • Lead the delivery of IT and Operations Control Assurance Reviews to include:

    • Undertaking design effectiveness and operational effectiveness testing of IT and Operations controls as required within specified timescales.

    • Applying independent assurance / assessment skills to assigned activities.

    • Ensuring any potential exceptions and new process and control risks are recorded.

    • Liaising with other areas of the business to establish the root cause of issues as relevant.

    • Recommending approaches for the design and implementation of effective risk mitigation and supporting the identification and implementation of appropriate remedial activities.

    • Producing a clear record of all reviews performed.


  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the AM IT and Operations Governance and control framework by:

    • Assisting with and, where appropriate, leading required oversight activities including IT and Operations Risk Management & Control procedures, and governance/oversight reviews with strategic partners, Business Process Outsourcers and other outsource partners.

    • Understanding and, where appropriate, supporting the introduction of Governance Best Practices.

    • Actively sharing skills and knowledge in order to grow and develop knowledge in the AM IT and Operations Management teams.

    • Helping to foster a “risk orientated” culture throughout IT and Operations by helping divisional personnel to identify and escalate new process / control risks and recommend approaches for effective risk mitigation.



Additional



  • Develop and manage effective relationships with internal and cross functional contacts as well as key stakeholders across 1st line assurance (other governance contacts), 2nd line assurance (Operational Risk Management) and 3rd line assurance (internal and external audit).

  • Prioritising work effectively to meet resourcing and business needs and effectively manage customer expectations.

  • Ensuring all assigned work requests are managed and processed accurately, timely and in accordance to an agreed work schedule.

  • Ensuring results of all IT Governance activities are shared with the relevant IT and Operations team members as required.

  • Adopting the Group IT Supplier Management Framework and expected behaviours when dealing with 3rd parties.

  • Design and operate IT Governance controls as assigned by the head of Technical Operations, to include maintaining relevant IT governance and control documentation

  • Develop a reporting dashboard to provide the head of Technical Operations, IT Management Team and other relevant stakeholders with insight into key deliverables, in progress items and backlog.

  • Help to foster a “risk orientated” culture throughout IT by helping divisional personnel to identify and escalate new process / control risks and recommend approaches for effective risk mitigation.

  • Develop and maintain required knowledge in IT Governance, process, and control good practice.

  • Develop and maintain Products, Processes, Life, Pensions, Business Practices, Code of Conduct, etc through compulsory in-house training programmes.

  • Working closely with the Head of AM Technical Operations ensuring alignment with the strategic IT direction.
  • Build, lead and maintain effective relationships with the AM business, IT and stakeholders.


What we're looking for


Essential



  • Experience within Financial Services and / or Asset Management

  • An experienced Technology Governance manager that has a proven track record of building out IT Governance controls, framework, and process.

  • Experienced with management of geographically dispersed teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple threads of work under pressure.

  • Making informed decisions in a timely manner; taking into account the needs of the situation, priorities, constraints, known risks, and the availability of necessary information and resources.

  • Cleary articulating goals and objectives and motivating and leading others towards their achievements.

  • Directing others to undertake activities/tsks within a defined timescale.

  • Conveying a level of confidence and professionalism when engaging with stakeholders, influencing positively and persuading others to take a specific course of action.

  • Dealing effectively with unexpected situations in a timely manner, taking advantage of opportunities and overcoming problems.

  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies

  • Excellent communication, influencing and facilitation skills, in particular for problem solving/troubleshooting activities

  • Ability to adapt to a variety of people at all levels within and outside of the delivery organisation, including partner and client organisations

  • Issue management, prioritisation, and ability to provide pragmatic direction which is consistent with clients' longer-term strategy

  • Able to demonstrate resilience, flexibility and adapt to changing schedules and priorities

  • Membership of a professional body

  • Degree in Computer Science, Technology or Engineering
