Network Engineer Full Time

The Network Engineer role is a hybrid working position, working within the Network Engineering team, our Network Engineers are responsible for building, operating, maintaining and routine deployment of the core IP, transit and peering, distribution, access, datacentre and exchange networks. Part of your responsibilities will be participation in a 24×7 call-out rota (after the qualifying period).


Key Responsibilities:



  • Network Engineer will proactively monitor the status, utilisation, performance and availability of our network and network services.

  • Carry out pre-defined expansion plans to our network to ensure the continuing availability, performance and capacity of our network and network services.

  • Carry out pre-defined config changes to our network to support the continuing expansion of user growth and service changes to our network.

  • Carry out routine network deployments, supporting the company’s exchange rollout plans.

  • Carry out timely patching and upgrades according to the maintenance schedule or in response to incidents.

  • Network Engineer will carry out scheduled testing that verifies security and failover mechanisms on our services, ensuring that recovery procedures are kept up to date and understood by the team.

  • Completion of complex implementation plans.

  • Completion of LLD and POC/Lab testing.

  • Deliver planned changes and improvements to our live environments in line with our change management process, ensuring they have gone through an effective peer review and testing process prior to implementation.

  • Respond (with a sense of urgency) to faults, alerts, escalations and change requests on our network.

  • Protect the security of our services and data.


Experience:



  • Network Engineer must have experience working in an ISP, Telco or other Managed Services environment

  • Familiar with working in Data Centre and Openreach Exchange environments.


Technical Skills – Essential



  • Working towards CCNP/JNCIS or equivalent level of knowledge

  • Experience in working with large-scale ISP network technologies at all layers: MPLS, IPv4/IPv6, ISIS, BGP, QOS, OSPF, NAT, VLAN, STP, VRRP/HSRP, and Optical networking.

  • Experience in working with large-scale ISP access services: Ethernet access, Broadband (BNG, L2TP, PPP), IP-VPN (L2 & L3), VoIP, FTTX

  • Experience with one or more of the following hardware vendors: Juniper, Ericsson, Arista, and Cisco.

  • Network management: SNMP, OpenNMS, Nagios, MRTG, Cacti, U2000, NetBox

  • Experience working with firewalls,managed switches, routers and switches.

  • Writing LLDs and Implementation plans for non-routine work, for yourself or others to implement


Job Types: Permanent, Full-time


Salary: £45,000.00 per year
