Outcomes Administrator Full Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and proactive individual to join the Surgery Clinical Outcomes Team. We are looking for someone who has excellent time management skills and the ability to adapt to sudden unexpected demands. Ideally, this person should be aware of the purpose of clinical outcomes and have experience working with consultants, nurses, and other staff within a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate should have experience using Microsoft Excel, have good analytical skills and be an effective communicator. Candidates invited for interview will be asked to complete a simple Microsoft Excel test. The excel test will help us understand your level of proficiency in using the platform.

The post holder will be responsible for providing efficient, high-quality data entry and clerical support to the clinical outcomes team for the Surgery Directorate under the supervision of the Outcomes Team Manager.

The Surgery Directorate provides a wide range of adult trauma and elective services in the specialties of Plastic Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics:

Trauma and Orthopaedics

Our department is rapidly growing into one of London’s largest Orthopaedic services. We have specialist interests in:


  • Hip and knee replacements and revisions

  • Anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions (ACL)

  • Knee arthroscopies

  • Complex spinal surgery

  • Complex foot and ankle surgery, including ankle replacements

  • Upper limb surgery, including shoulder replacements, elbow replacements and hand surgery

  • Surgery for young adult hip disorders and complex foot and ankle surgery

  • Full trauma services at St Thomas’ Hospital

Plastic Surgery

We are one of the largest plastic surgery departments in the UK, working closely with the major trauma center at King’s College Hospital. Our service covers:


  • General plastic surgery

  • Hand trauma and soft tissue injuries

  • Lower limb trauma

  • Hand surgery

  • Reconstruction following skin, breast, head and neck and perineal cancers

  • Ear reconstruction

  • Epidermolysis bullosa

  • Facial reanimation

  • Trauma

  • Paediatric plastic surgery

  • Treatment as an inpatient or day case.

Support the collection, validation and submission of data to national registries and national audit programmes, such as the National Joint Registry, British Spine Registry and the Breast and Cosmetic Implant Registry etc.

Ensure that national data entry deadlines are met promptly.

Liaise with patients to encourage them to participate in completing outcome measure forms.

Liaise with consultant surgeons regarding completing relevant data collection forms with missing information.

Assist the department in other data requests or collection of information, such as local audits.

Locate, collect and book patient notes in and out of the department as required.

Complete general clerical duties such as scanning, filing, collection and opening of mail.

Assist in providing cover for other staff in the directorate to ensure continuity of service.

Deal with enquiries from patients, staff and visitors courteously, efficiently and tactfully, referring to appropriate staff when necessary.

Liaise with other departments and members of the Trust to ensure the smooth running of the office and assist the team's functioning.
