Education Support Services Receptionist Full Time

We are looking for a solution focused, enthusiastic, reliable, conscientious person to join our ELHT Family within the Directorate of Education, Research and Innovation (DERI) who would like to work with a diverse team, helping our Educators and supporting a wide range of colleagues and visitors coming through our services.

The post is fixed term for one year, 15 hours per week. Successful candidates will work part time hours (2 x 7.5-hour days) across all our DERI Education Centres, Blackburn and Burnley sites, including the North West Radiology Academy Site, on a rotational basis, with a mix of shifts between the hours of 07:45 am and 17.00 pm.

This is a vital role for our Education Business Support Service and you will be responsible for a wide variety of duties, some of which include:


  • Meeting, greeting and welcoming to the DERI services and Education Centres, including the North West Radiology Academy Site.

  • Providing housekeeping support for the ELHT Education Centres, including the North West Radiology Academy Site; this will include the opening up and closing down of the Centres, and the security of the buildings as per the agreed procedure, undertaking regular room checks within the centres, as well as ensuring rooms are set up ready for education and training and secured at the end of the day

  • Supporting colleagues and visitors with audio visual equipment aid requests and usage

  • Provide housekeeping support at the Blackburn and Burnley Education Centres, including setting up for refreshments, replenishing stocks for the Learner’s Lounge.

  • Be a first point of contact for staff reporting issues within the Education Centres, e.g. parking, safety & security of the buildings, floods, electrical, photocopier and vending machines faults etc. Report any issues to the relevant manager or company.

  • Deal with any immediate spillages and incidents affecting the health and safety, presentation and utilisation of the facilities.

  • Collect and distribute mail and goods to staff in the Education Centres.

  • Liaise with other staff within the Centres when visitors arrive, and provide support where required.

  • Direct phone calls to relevant members of staff within the Education Centres.

  • Open up and close down reception areas and the Education Centres, checking security of the buildings as per the agreed procedure.

  • Monitor access into the Education Centres to audit numbers and check ID’s in accordance with security procedures.

  • Undertake regular room checks within the Education Centres to check usage of booked facilities and ensure rooms are set up ready for training and secured at the end of the day.

  • Maintain building security including allocation of keys for Out of Hours education and training sessions, ensuring those educators/trainers are made aware of the Education Centres Bookings Policy in order the safe return of keys and equipment loaned out.

  • Ensuring that all equipment in rooms within the Education Centres is checked daily, restocked and secure ready for the next booking

  • Market educational services via posters, PowerPoint presentations, and on the Education Centres monitors, as directed by the DERI team

  • Support the use of Audio Visual Equipment, e.g. iBoards, computers, projectors, including understanding how to use the equipment in order to support staff in case of breakdown.

  • Take bookings and advise staff on use of any equipment loaned out, ensuring collection and return of said equipment in appropriate condition.

  • Manage the Room Booking System, approving use of Education Centres rooms, ensuring users are aware of the Bookings Policy

  • Issue relevant educational paperwork/books/certificates stored within the reception areas, logging and obtaining signatures as required.

  • Provide administration support for the DERI Team, as and when required, including support on setting up for Corporate Induction, meet and greet new starters, administration of the Learning Management System and any other appropriate support.

  • To be able to work across sites and shift patterns to ensure that the Education Support Services and Centres have appropriate cover at all times

  • To undertake any task as deemed appropriate to role and responsibility
