Blue Arrow is recruiting a student immagration officer to work for our client based in Manchster city centre. This is a hybrid role (working arrangements to be confirmed). The role is temporary for a minimum of 3 months, paying £13.32 per hour. The ideal candidiate will have experience of working with administrative processes in a customer facing office environment, ideally with knowledge and/or experience of the UK immigration system


Please note due to the system that you will be required to use for this role we can only accept candidates who are nationals of an EEA state or Switzerland or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK. Purpose of the Job


To provide clerical and administrative support for key activities of Student Immigration including enquiry management and record keeping; compliance with responsibilites as a Student Sponsor Higher Education Provider; and the provision of immigration information including signposting to international applicants and students, and to deliver excellent service provision and support colleagues with continuous improvement, placing the student experience at the heart of what we do with support for a single Professional Services (PS) team working flexibly across organisational boundaries Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities or Duties




  • To provide administrative support for Student Immigration enquiry management and compliance as directed by Student Immigration Coordinator.

  • To act as the first point of contact for Student Immigration advice and compliance including the provision of information such as signposting to applicants and students on the visa process, Academic Technology Approval Scheme clearance, and biometric residence permit card collection and the application process for the replacement of lost permit cards, and provide information on routine matters, knowing when to escalate to others as appropriate.

  • To have awareness and active engagement with the need for diversity and inclusion in all that we do for example, when working with individuals who identify with a protected characteristic under the Equality Act, students who are under-represented in higher education as outlined in the University's widening participation strategy.

  • To ensure the timely addition of sponsor notes to assigned Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) in the UK Visa and immigration Sponsor Management System, including liaison with Faculty-based colleagues and the applicant or student as required.

  • To support the Student Immigration Team in managing compliance activities, including right to study checks, the recording and storing of Academic Technology Approval Scheme clearance certificates, and the international student census.

  • To complete the Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies status download from the UK Visa and immigration Sponser Management System on a daily basis to ensure that the information held in Campus Solutions is up-to-date.

  • To assist with reporting any activity within required deadlines to the UK Visa and immigration using the web-based Sponsor Management System.

  • To assist in the processes associated with the receipt, processing and issuing of Biometric Permits to both students and dependants and the return of uncollected, duplicate or errored cards to the UK Visa and immigration management system in line with its requirements

  • To assist with data quality tasks and targeted internal record checks in conjunction with the Student Immigration Coordinator to ensure full compliance with UK Visa and immigration policy.

  • To assist with the maintenance of the relevant pages of the intranet and Student Support microsite which provide immigration and associated information for staff, students and prospective students.

  • To undertake on-going training to stay abreast of changes in the UK immigration legislation affecting international students and the University's main obligations as a Sponsor under the Points Based System for Immigration (PBS).

  • To be responsible for your own data management, the student record and data quality for all related areas of Teaching Learning and Student Experience (TLSE) delivery.

  • To generate bespoke correspondence, record replies and maintain accurate records as required.

  • To have a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion policies.

  • To play an active role on relevant groups and actively participate in communities of practice for particular areas of activity in order to share ideas.



Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience



  • Experience of working with administrative processes.

  • Experience of working in a process driven team environment.

  • Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail, maintaining focus with routine and repetitive tasks. Good oral and written communication skills with an ability to deal with a wide range of people.

  • Flexible and responsive to customer needs and able to provide information and guidance, whilst maintaining confidentiality.

  • Good organisational skills, and able to prioritise work in a busy environment.

  • Good numeracy skills, attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively. Digital literacy, with a familiarity with standard IT packages.
