Job description
Deliver technical installations that help protect vital spaces
As an Installation Engineer, youll be hands-on in delivering technical installations to agreed designs, working within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure every job is completed safely. You support Senior Installers on both single and complex multi-system installations, liaising with Design Engineers and Project Managers to ensure the right equipment is in place. Customer focus is also key, working directly with end users and Overseas Technical Officers to provide clear technical advice and ensure a high level of satisfaction.
Theres also a strong safety and development focus to the role. Youll risk assess your own work, follow Health & Safety policies and procedures, and help supervise labourers and apprentices where needed, making sure work is delivered safely and meets the expected standards. When based in the UK, youll support the wider team by helping maintain workshops and working environments, contributing to research and development activity, and keeping your own knowledge of new technologies and best practice up to date.
Use your practical knowledge to deliver work that matters
Youll bring a Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience, in electronics, telecommunications, IT or a related subject with hands-on experience applying that knowledge in a real working environment. Youre confident installing Technical Protective Security Systems and will have experience in at least one relevant area, whether thats CCTV, access control, IDS, radio, structured cabling or PCO. You also understand the importance of doing things properly, with care, accuracy and attention to detail especially when it comes to cable installation across Cat5, Cat6, fibre and related methods.
Youre someone who takes safety seriously. Comfortable carrying out risk assessments, you follow site procedures and make sure work is completed to the right standard. Experience in secure or overseas environments would be helpful, as would an understanding of Construction Design Management requirements, an ECS card or membership of a relevant professional body. Most importantly, youll bring a practical mindset, a reliable approach and a willingness to keep learning as you build your technical skills.
