We are looking for an experienced CNC Production Engineer to join a precision manufacturing business in Portsmouth. This role bridges engineering, programming and production, supporting high-precision machining, process improvement and new product introduction.
The Role
- Program and optimise 3–5 axis CNC machines using CAD/CAM software such as NCG, Hypermill or EdgeCAM.
- Set up Heidenhain-controlled machines and ensure standardised machining parameters are maintained.
- Develop DFM improvements to reduce cycle times, costs and waste.
- Support production on the shop floor, troubleshooting issues and maintaining quality standards.
- Create SOPs, routing procedures and technical documentation.
- Lead and support process capability studies, continuous improvement and NPI activities.
- Work closely with Design, Sales and Production to improve quoting accuracy and tooling cost control.
- Proven experience in a high-precision CNC manufacturing environment.
- Strong CAD/CAM knowledge and Heidenhain setup/programming experience.
- Good understanding of GD&T, materials, cutting tools and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with MSA, capability studies, Lean and ISO 9001.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
- A good communicator who works well with production, engineering and leadership teams.
