About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Leader to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of a CQC-registered mental health supported living service for male service users.
This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with strong mental health experience who is confident in managing staff, supporting service users, and ensuring high standards of care, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the overall management of the service
- Lead and supervise staff teams, including rota management, supervision, and appraisals
- Ensure care and support is person-centred, outcome-focused, and recovery-based
- Oversee risk assessments, support plans, incident management, and safeguarding
- Act as a point of escalation for complex behaviours and mental health crises
- Maintain compliance with CQC regulations, policies, and procedures
- Support with audits, inspections, and quality improvement
- Liaise with professionals including social workers, mental health teams, families, and commissioners
- Support recruitment, induction, and training of staff
- Participate in on-call duties as required
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in mental health supported living / residential care
- Experience in a senior support worker / team leader / deputy manager role
- Strong understanding of CQC standards, safeguarding, and mental health legislation
- Ability to manage and motivate staff effectively
- Confident handling incidents, risk, and complex needs
- Good communication and leadership skills
- IT skills for care records and reporting
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 or 5 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
- Experience supporting service users with challenging behaviour, dual diagnosis, or forensic backgrounds
- Experience supporting CQC inspections
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 26 – 30 per week
