IT Communications Rollout Engineer | 6 Month Temporary Contract | Head Office, Lisburn Road Full Time

Job Summary:

The post holder will be required to manage the changeover in 45 Praxis Northern Ireland sites from copper internet MPLS connections to either Fibre to the Premises or SOGEA (part fibre) MPLS technology.

This will involve liaising with our WAN provider who will order the appropriate lines and coordinate 3 rd Party engineers for site visits. The post holder will have to be physically being on site managing the 3 rd party engineers to install the appropriate infrastructure into the correct locations without affecting any existing communications services on the sites.

The post holder will then manage the changeover of the computers, telephone, printers etc network infrastructure with minimal downtime liaising with the Praxis IT Department.

There may be some sites that will require changing their analogue phone systems to IP phone systems and this will involve coordinating with the Praxis IT infrastructure team who will organise a Virtual telephone exchange, the DDI lines and handsets that will need setup on the site.

It is anticipated this role with spend the vast majority of the time on Praxis site visits covering the AM (8am-1pm) or PM (1pm to 6pm) 3 rd party engineer visits to each site across Northern Ireland thus must be able to cover these earlier and later working times as required on each site.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Liaise with Praxis WAN provider and 3rd Party Engineers on install dates and times
  • Liaise with each Praxis Service Manager on the IT communication services they currently have and what would need transferred
  • Liaise with Praxis IT Support and Infrastructure teams on any communication services that require moving
  • To liaise with the relevant Praxis Service Manger on site to minimise disruption
  • Manage the changeover from copper MLS lines to Fibre/Sogea MPLS lines on each site
  • Manage the setup and installation of any telephone services that need converted to IP
  • Ensure the IT Asset Register is maintained and updated will all movements.
  • To provide IT support on any other site related issues and these can be escalated to the IT Service desk team to assist with.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • HND (or recognised equivalent) in an ICT related discipline

OR

  • Five GCSEs (A-C) including Maths and English including at least 2 years' experience in an ICT environment.
  • Must have a valid full driving license for at least 1 year.
  • Experience with Windows Laptops/Desktops
  • Experience with IT networks • Ability to prioritise and plan work
  • Working collaboratively with Suppliers and/or Customers
