About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and technically capable IT Support Engineer to join our close-knit IT team. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting a multi-office professional services environment, where reliability, responsiveness, and clear communication are essential.
You will provide 1st & 2nd line support, maintain and improve our IT infrastructure, support technical projects, and work closely with colleagues across the firm to ensure technology enables the business to operate smoothly and securely.
This role would suit someone who enjoys ownership, variety, and working in an environment where their contribution genuinely makes a difference.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Systems
· Provide 1st & 2nd line IT support to colleagues, both remotely and on-site
· Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and system issues efficiently
· Maintain and support Microsoft-based infrastructure and systems in line with best practice and internal policies
· Ensure systems operate reliably, securely, and with minimal disruption
Microsoft 365 & Infrastructure
· Support and administer Microsoft 365 applications and tenancy, including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure AD, Intune, Autopilot, and VPN services
· Maintain good relations with our 3rd party IT provider who support Windows Server environments (2016–2025), including AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, WSUS and PowerShell and ensure server task/issues are resolved in a timely manner
· Assist with device provisioning, user access, and endpoint management
Projects & Continuous Improvement
· Assist with the delivery of IT projects and system improvements
· Contribute to the evaluation and recommendation of new technologies and solutions
· Identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience, and user experience
Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement
· Liaise with external IT suppliers and service providers as required
· Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments, including senior stakeholders
· Communicate technical information clearly and appropriately to non-technical users
Documentation & Compliance
· Maintain accurate system documentation, service desk records, and user guidance
· Support compliance with data protection, confidentiality, and information security requirements whether being processed, stored or accessed by the network
· Prepare training materials and FAQs to support end users
· Maintain a current and advanced knowledge of and skills in the specialist disciplines of which you have responsibility.
General
· Support IT operations in person across multiple offices
· Be flexible to support business needs
· Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the IT Manager / Director
About You
You will be organised, approachable, and technically confident, with a genuine desire to support colleagues and maintain high service standards.
Essential
· Experience providing IT support in a business or professional services environment
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and services
· Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Windows Server environments
· Confident troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
· Strong communication skills and a collaborative, customer-focused approach
Desirable
· Experience in a professional services or law firm environment
· Familiarity with Azure technologies and virtualisation (e.g. Hyper-V)
· Experience working in an ITIL-aligned environment
· Service desk / ITSM tool experience (e.g. SNOW, Halo, Freshdesk)
· Experience with mobile device management (Intune, Apple Business Manager, Google play etc)
· Exposure to legal systems such as case management or digital dictation tools
