Job description

The main purpose of this role is to provide support for transport and accommodation to DVLA staff on an accurate and timely basis. You will be part of a small, dynamic team, ensuring that DVLA maintains a duty of care to it's staff on official business. You will also be part of a team that is responsible for government targets on decarbonising.


Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Day to day responsibility for the booking of business travel and accommodation including Hotels, Fleet/Car Hire, Train & Flights
  • Supporting the supply of Display Screen Equipment to homeworkers, in line with the DSE regulations which includes sourcing, internal transportation and preparing equipment such as chairs and other equipment for the contracted courier
  • Managing all travel data including collation and analysis via MS excel databases and ensuring travel related reporting requirements are met
  • Ensuring that the cars are safe to use, roadworthy, fully fuelled/charged, economical and fuel efficient to run in line with operating instructions for the maintenance of the fleet
  • Educating staff on sustainable travel options

About you

We would love someone to join us who can build rapport quickly with key stakeholders both internally and externally and enjoys working collaboratively with people at all levels.

You will have strong communication skills and can communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. You can deliver information in a clear, confident, professional manner and can handle challenging conversations when necessary.

Excellent organisational skills are required, being able to prioritise your work to maximise productivity and achieve all deadlines. You will be highly adaptable and flexible, adjusting to the requirements of the role. You will be a team player with the ability to work on your own initiative and can work well under pressure.

You will have excellent IT skills especially with Microsoft packages, in particular Excel with experience of data management.

Additional information

DVLA are following government guidelines and the majority of HR and Estates staff are currently working from home. This is likely to continue until the end of 2021, this however is under continuous review. Once it is possible to do so the current expectation is that HR and Estates staff will be located in the Swansea office to allow for ongoing support, development and collaboration with colleagues.

For this role, there will be a requirement to work in the office two days a week to support ongoing duties. Due to the current and ongoing Covid-19 situation you will be expected to adhere to all safety measures that are in place whilst on site.

The standard working hours will be Monday - Thursday 8am - 4.30pm and Friday 8am - 4pm which will be covered on a rota basis.
