We have an exciting opportunity for a HR Advisor to join our team in a challenging and diverse role.

As HR Advisor, you would be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of the HR strategy by providing pragmatic and operational HR support to all levels of employees within the business. The HR Advisor will provide support to our HR admin team and assist the Group HR Manager in rolling out new projects in key areas.

You will be a strong communicator and be able to influence where needed. The role of a HR advisor is a busy one, with no two days the same but also rewarding, so you will be confident at managing your own priorities and identify and escalate areas of risk.

The HR Advisor will work as part of the wider HR team to provide support to managers and employees on a range of areas including employee relations, recruitment, induction, learning and development and performance management.

Qualifications and/or experience:

· Working towards Level 5 in CIPD or equivalent qualification or experience

· Experience of providing comprehensive HR generalist advice and support to managers on HR policies, practices and processes to managers and responding to employee enquiries

· Positive disposition, self-motivation, initiative and co-operative team work;

· Excellent interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy and discretion;

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

· Efficient IT skills, including ability to use the HR software

· Trustworthy and able to handle sensitive information confidentially

· Good knowledge of employment legislation and HR good practice

· Excellent grasp of literacy and numeracy

· Well organised, able to prioritise and meet deadlines

· Excellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracy

· Applicants will ideally have a strong ER background and be used to working in a fast-paced environment with experience of managing or guiding end to end ER processes.

· Applications from candidates with HR Advisor experience in the transport or retail sector would be welcomed along with those who have experience in working with remote or multiple site teams.

· The successful applicant will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including rapport building, influencing and a detailed knowledge of employment law.

· Some payroll experience is helpful but not essential,

Key Responsibilities:

· Act as a point of contact for initial HR queries; deal with straightforward queries, update Group HR Manager regularly to ensure they are fully informed at all times.

· Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, flexible working requests, and parental matters.

· Support line managers with operational HR matters.

· Escalating complex casework to the Group HR Manager where appropriate.

· Support the Group HR Manager with investigations, including capability, grievance and disciplinary proceedings

· Assist the Group HR Manager with areas such as Recruitment and Selection, Discipline, Capability and Grievance issues.

· You will be responsible for pro-actively managing sickness absence cases and following up on all return to work interviews.

· Build and manage employee relationships in a confidential and professional manner

· Assist in managing the Recruitment inbox. Manage some aspects of recruitment and induction, working with the HR Administrators/Assistants.

· Assist the HR team in delivering induction activities for new employees and monitor the probationary process providing advice and guidance to managers when needed

· Keep up to date with changes to employment law and legislation. Advise line managers and other employees on employment law and our own employment policies and procedures

· Keep the HR information systems up to date, input and compile data as requested by the Group HR Manager

· To help shape and land new L&D initiatives, including supporting in the design and delivery of management training sessions

· Provide support for the apprenticeship and trainee programmes

· Understand and build familiarity with all HR policies and work with the team on annual reviews and ensuring these are compliant with current legislation.

· Provide administrative support where required and ensure all agreed processes and procedures are followed with regards to electronic and paper filing and archiving

· Provide absence cover for the other HR Advisors and for the Payroll Officer

· Support the Group HR Manager with new system and process implementation projects.

· Undertake ad hoc HR operational and administrative tasks, as required.
