Are you interested in applying your computational fluid dynamics expertise for developing sustainable manufacturing of

nanomaterials? As part of an EPSRC Fellowship (www.svplab.com/fellowship.html), we have an exciting opportunity for

someone with a passion for process scale-up looking to use their skills in CFD to make an impact on the sustainability of

nanomaterials manufacturing.

We aim to apply bioinspired routes to deliver sustainable ("green"), low cost and scalable manufacturing of high value

functional nanomaterials. Using CFD, underpinning mixing mechanisms will be identified and modelled in order to design

scale-up pathways. You will have a strong background in and experience with CFD software, including development of new

models (for example ANSYS Fluent). A passion to apply these skills to the scale-up of chemical synthesis of nanomaterials is

essential, while a background in nanomaterials is not required. You will have a PhD or equivalent research experience in

chemical engineering or related disciplines with a focus on CFD.

This position provides significant training opportunities. Given the multidisciplinary nature of the project, and planned

research visits, you will get opportunities to learn new skills (technical, tech-transfer and professional) by closely

collaborating with internationally leading partners from academia and industry. Your will have the opportunity to participate

in training on professional skills for researchers and leaders, provided by the host university and undergo a formal review and

mentoring by a senior staff.

You will be based in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) within the Green Nanomaterials Research

Group. CBE is ranked amongst the top 5 Chemical Engineering Departments in the UK and is a thriving department within the

University's Faculty of Engineering. The Department has a world-class research environment that is ranked number 1 by the
