Who are we?

Maddocks is a trade-only wholesale distribution company specialising in the supply of spare parts and accessories for commercial and domestic appliances. Operating from our 43,000sq. ft facility in the prestigious Capital Business Park, Cardiff, and are now looking for an experienced Financial Manager & Credit Controller to develop our financial team as part of our ambitious growth strategy.

Skills Required

· Significant experience of managing high volumes of customer accounts with at least 5 years? experience of working in a financial role within a SME

· Previous experience in credit control, negotiation and in managing and fostering relationships with customers and suppliers with excellent communication and negotiation skills

· Strong business acumen and understanding of supply chains

· A confident and professional image to represent the company in meetings with external parties

· Keen attention to detail with ability to analyse data and reports. High degree of computer literacy & system proficiency. Knowledge of ERP systems and strong Excel skills essential.

· Ability to take the initiative and work independently to achieve results

· Ability to work well as part of a team supporting junior colleagues within the finance department

· Ability to remain calm under pressure. Strong organisational skills.

· Flexible and adaptable to change

Skills Desired

· Experience of the home appliance industry or wholesale/distribution

· Knowledge of accounting software


· To carry out all activities as required by the Finance Director and implement the Company?s credit control policy with customers by preparing an aged debtor list and making sure all customers have paid accounts as per the terms of trading to improve the company's cash position.

· Collection of debts as per terms of trading and to meet company debtor days targets.

· Maintain sales ledger by allocating all remittances, credit notes, journals ensuring ledgers are kept in an orderly fashion.

· Managing cash sales, preparing statements and preparing lodgements for banking.

· Making payments to suppliers.

· File proof of deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.

· Provide timely finance department administrative support including data input, filing, invoicing and support to senior management team.

· Effectively operate accounting software, ERP & business management systems alongside Excel reports.

· Reconciliation of accounts.

· Customer service and handling of account enquiries.

· Cashflow management on day-to-day basis.

· Assist in producing monthly management accounts and financial reports.

· Day-to-day supervision of the junior colleagues within the finance department

· Liaising with HMRC, financial institutions and other 3rd parties

· Potential future involvement in assisting with Payroll administration.

Job Type: Probationary for 6 Months, if mutually satisfactory then full-time 37.5hrs a week, Permanent
