Build Manager

OBJECTIVE

Overall responsibility for the management of the construction department and the programme/project requirements that fall within this department, to include meeting all client/internal deliverables within specified timescales. Moreover to ensure all matters of

HSE and QA are strictly adhered to and appropriately measured.

POSITION SPECIFICATION

Management of internal/external resources in the delivery of decommissioning, tendering, REC management, construction and site audit inspections

Management of a team of project engineers including evaluation of staff performance, internal/external resource levels, recruitment and staff discipline, where applicable.

H&S Management, including the implementation of CDM

Maintenance of real time progress and daily/weekly client reporting for all works on both internal and external databases

Ad-hoc reports as required by the client from time to time

Attendance at Multi Skilled Visits (MSV?s), health and safety audits and handover inspections on sites, as required

Agreeing of variation instructions, compensation events and change requests and negotiation of valuations and final accounts

Provision of design expertise and support to internal departments

Weekly client meeting discussing programme and issues

Benchmarking

Milestone and revenue forecasting

Liaising with all parties at all levels of the business

Managing compilation of hand over pack documentation

Attend site handover meetings with client if necessary

Site Management ? conduct site inductions and oversee construction works

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Degree Qualified in Civil Engineering / Building Services or similar would be preferred but experience will be taken into account

Experience within the UK Telecommunications industry, with 5+ years highly desireable

Working knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations

Knowledge of Construction techniques Rules, regulations, laws and bi-laws both English and EU; applicable to the Construction Industry

Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the same (or similar) role

Experience of installation and commissioning on BTS/Node B equipment with variety of vendors, preferably extending to optimisation and integration

Personnel & Client relationship management

Commercial awareness - Costing and benchmarking

H&S Management for monthly reporting

Administrating and managing framework agreements with Sub-Contractors

Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages including, word, excel and outlook with a good understanding of databases

Strong commercial awareness and business acumen

Flexible & professional approach to work and be a team player

Self-motivated, confident & organised

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders

Excellent communication skills ? both verbal & written

Ability to handle heavy workload & competing priorities

DETAILED GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Engineering

Completion of site decommissions, upgrades, Operator Consolidations, and new builds meeting client KPIs

Ability to identify issues and trends and act in a timely and decisive manner to mitigate/avoid risk and achieve positive outcomes

Ensuring sites are planned and built commercially favoured ensuring safety and quality is kept to the highest standards

Contractor and supplier management

Selection and recommendation of key subcontractors to meet project requirements.

Ensure that all contractual obligations are met in line with client and company objectives

Issuing of new and updated client related specifications when received

Issuing of Passive component call off to the kit suppliers for quotation and delivery

Reviewing invoices of contractors and signing off

Client relationships

Acts as the client?s first point of contact for build issues on the project. Able to handle queries, disseminate information, resolve problems and generally meet and exceed client expectations as evidence through client feedback, satisfaction and allocation of additional work.

Issuing of reports for planning and programming purposes

Ensuring site are placed into Integration Events with clients and their vendors

Acts as one of the clients fault finding liaison contacts, ensuring commercial cover is obtained prior, ensuring all issues are resolved within the required KPI.

Attendance to Health and Safety monthly Forums along with the HSQA Manager

People management and leadership

Direct and support the construction team in project delivery

Line Management responsibility for PEs

Identify performance issues in a timely manner resulting in

appropriate action being taken including guidance, coaching,

performance management or escalation to the HR department

Contribute to the continuous professional development and effectiveness of project employees through formal and informal learning and development activities

Promote company values, policies and procedures at all times as evidenced by employees knowledge of and compliance with company specific processes

Champions change and effectively manages the implementation of new ideas

Information & Data Management

Maintain internal and external databases with key forecast and actual milestones

Provision of weekly and monthly reports illustrating profit/loss and a running evaluation of the project

QA & H&S

Ensure project compliance with QA, Environmental, H&S legislation, regulations and codes of practice

Effectively communicate all changes to project team

Promote company values in this area

Ensure the safety & well-being of all employees through understanding, promoting & complying with all H&S policies as evidenced through zero safety incidents

Comply with all PPE

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £45,000.00 per year
