Head of IT Finance & Cost Management Full Time

Salary:
£64,100 - £96,100 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the role?



Within IT, we are building out our Digital Strategy Transformation and Commercial (DSTC) team, which is responsible for defining and executing IT's strategic direction, enabling the digital transformation of the SSE Group and optimising the commercial performance of the IT business as a whole. Reporting to the Director of DSTC, this is a critical new role where you'll bring together the finance and cost management activities within IT with the objective of driving improved cost management, transparency, budgeting and forecasting. You'll be responsible for optimising and continually improving the existing processes and systems.



You'll take key responsibility for:-


  • Managing the annual and quarterly planning and budgeting cycle across the Group and Central IT, and inputting to the annual Central Group Finance budget planning processes providing recommendations to the CIO and CFO.

  • Delivering transparent and tight cost control across the entire IT function through driving down hardware and software costs through analysis of usage, and managing vendor relationships to optimise purchasing power.

  • Defining value measures linked to key business deliverables, and facilitating evolving and effective financial and operational reporting for IT stakeholders, ultimately driving progress towards self-service reporting.

  • Defining IT Financial Management services, acting as they key engagement point for functional leads and BUs.

  • Producing IT Financial Management communications, continuous improvement and change management activities.


What do I need?



A qualified accountant, you'll bring experience operating in a similarly senior role, where you have established effective ways of working and implementing financial planning systems and processes. This should include management experience in a Financial Planning capacity coupled with demonstrable cost management expertise.



We'd also like you to have experience of:-


  • Building financial management information reporting and dashboards, and the ability to work with senior stakeholders to distil complex information into business-aligned metrics.

  • Working with IT specific finance and cost management systems.

  • Working with large, complex data sets and the ability to build solutions based on complex cost models. A good understanding of using appropriate systems in data creation, modelling and reporting is essential.

  • Delivering allocations and recharging to Business Units (preferably in an Operations or IT function).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of technological and financial terminologies.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills demonstrated by the ability to influence, motivate and encourage others, across all levels.
