GP Sessional Tutors Full Time

at University of Dundee Dundee in Dundee (Published at 28-05-2021)

We are recruiting sessional GP Tutors to deliver teaching in years 1-3 of the undergraduate medical program. These are part time posts, paid hourly.

Within years 1-3, students spend one afternoon a week focusing on GP elements of the medical course. This is delivered through small group work sessions, case-based teaching and a range of community visits and experiences.

Small group work tutors have year 1, 2 and 3 groups and deliver a total of 20 afternoon sessions (2-4pm) over the academic year. Additional non-timetabled sessions are allocated for assessment and the advisor of studies aspect of role. For 2021/22 we have small group work tutor vacancies on Thursday and Friday afternoons (Friday afternoon vacancy maternity cover job-share part time).

Case based teaching tutors have year 1, 2 and 3 groups and deliver 12 afternoon sessions (2-4pm) over the academic year. For 2021/22 we have one vacancy on a Friday afternoon.

Due to requirements for social distancing because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, it is expected that the university will be continuing to employ a blended learning approach for the 2021/22 academic year. As such, it is anticipated that the majority of small group and case-based teaching sessions will be delivered using virtual classrooms. The School of Medicine is currently undertaking a curriculum review, the outcome of which will be implemented in 2022/23. As such, there may be changes to teaching opportunities in 2022/23.

Your priorities will include:
  • Delivering teaching

  • Supporting student assessment

  • Liaising with the Academic Mentor team as required (small group work tutors only)

  • Liaising with the GP Undergraduate Education year 1-3 team

  • Retaining an active link with profession and current clinical practice

We are only looking for enthusiastic GP's who:
  • Hold and MBChB or equivalent

  • Retain or are within 3 years of retaining active licence to practice

  • Have excellent communication skills

  • Are committed to continuing professional development.

Payment is made of completion of approved timesheets at the rate £160.76 for each 4 hour GPSiP session (£40.19 per hour)
