Lead Well Engineer Full Time

at Orion Group Aberdeen in Aberdeen (Published at 03-05-2021)

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Lead Well Engineer, based in Aberdeen.


Leading by example with a strong commitment to HSSE, to deliver the well engineering and planning work programme through engineering, operations planning and well delivery for minor projects. Responsible for front end planning, preparation of well designs and programmes, including flow modelling, stress analysis, equipment specification and selection.

Responsible for technical integrity and assurance of job designs and oversee full integration between sub-surface and ROO wells teams during the planning process.

Preparation of Cost estimates

Technical risk assessment, management, contingency planning and mitigation.

Coordination and maintenance of the wells elements of the Statement of Requirements Basis of Design (BoD)and the detailed individual BoD's

Front end planning for development wells, stimulations, workovers &interventions in conjunction with subsurface team

Support review and selection of well options.

Specification and standardisation of installed well equipment

Interface between ROO wells team and minor projects teams

Ensure alignment with International Standards, integration of learning's and best practice, and benchmarking data.

Prepare scopes of work and specifications for invitations to tender, tender evaluation and recommendations.

Ensure delivery of third party Quality Assurance and Quality Control on equipment & services.

Recommend and conduct engineering studies to improve operational performance

Experience & Qualifications:

A strong track record as a Drilling or Completion Engineer.

Ability to deliver in a Lead well Engineering role

Strong leadership and supervision, coaching and mentoring skills

Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, demonstrated by an ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams

Skilled in leading the design work for brown field onshore oil or gas wells.

Knowledge of electric submersible pumps would be useful

Competence with Landmark well engineering software packages (DIMS, Prosper, etc).

IWCF Well Control certified or equivalent.

Educated to first degree level in drilling engineering or equivalent

Flexible approach to work

Experience of developing completion options on horizontal wells, multi-laterals and sidetracks, water injectors and gas injectors.
