UTEC Geomarine, part of Acteon Group, is a pedigree marine geotechnical engineering and site investigation company, operating independently and in harmony with the energy supply chain, delivering for our clients through innovative solutions.
Our primary agenda is to provide geotechnical foresight, with minimal process waste and cycle time, designed around our customers' marine foundation objectives, their operations and their vessel fleets, ultimately reducing the footprint, risk and cost of delivering the World's energy needs.
We don't just provide marine geo-engineering and geo-characterization - we design, build, install and decommission with it, supporting the Renewables, Oil & Gas, Aquaculture and Cable industries.
UTEC Geomarine is looking for a driven and motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its shore based geo-engineering team.

The successful candidate will be able demonstrate track record and experience in conducting Geotechnical assessment and design of structures for use in the marine environment - from concept, FEED, to detailed design stages (piles, mudmats, gravity foundations, jackup assessments, caissons, anchors etc.) all the way through to advising during the construction and decommissioning phases. You will be conversant with cable and pipeline route analysis and engineering, incorporating ground modelling, burial risk assessments, performance analysis, investigative studies and trench tool modelling.
Although work mode will be onshore, our ideal candidate will also be willing to support the UTEC Geomarine business with occasional Offshore assignments to ensure seamless transition from engineering to execution and industry leading service delivery.
We currently operate across the UK with operational centres in Aberdeen and Bath. However, we would like to talk to candidates based anywhere in the UK. UTEC Geomarine operates globally and embraced flexible working years before covid19.

  • Support the Principal Geotechnical Engineer and lead in the preparation and delivery of geotechnical studies, designs and reports

  • Conduct and supervise data assessments and geotechnical analyses

  • Carry out geotechnical calculations according to industry standards (generally ISO & DNV)

  • Bespoke geotechnical problem solving and solution justification

  • Client liaison and lead in the preparation of geotechnical reports

  • Maintain time and project records and manage project costs

  • Assist in the technical and commercial management and planning of the business

  • Mentor trainee, junior and other geo-engineering and site investigation staff when required


  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology or closely related subject supported by further academic study or practical experience in geotechnical survey and equipment development

  • Previous experience working in the marine geotechnical site investigation environment

  • Practical knowledge of ground investigation, geotechnical engineering and geological processes

  • Our ideal candidate would be able and willing to undertake occasional offshore trips when required

  • Proficiency in the geotechnical finite element analysis and modelling software suites an advantage
