We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as our IPS Employment Specialist based at our office in Manzil Way, Oxford. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £21,854 per annum.

The IPS Employment Specialist will join the NHS IPS team, as an embedded worker, under the direction of the IPS team leader / AMHT manager to deliver IPS as part of the holistic recovery plan for mental health service users in the AMHT.

You will be required to manage a caseload of up to 20-25 people at any one time who have experienced mental health problems and who are waiting to either gain new employment or retain their current employment. The Employment Specialist is expected to deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach ? for which training will be given.

Responsibilities as our IPS Employment Specialist will include:

  • Working with the IPS team lead, IPS clinical lead and other IPS Employment specialists to assist in the development of the wider service across each county
  • Working with and having knowledge of benefit systems to be able to signpost and develop collaborative working relationships with organisations that provide benefits advice including DWP, CAB and BBMH
  • Providing education and support to employers, as agreed with the individual
  • Regularly collecting and promoting service user employment recovery stories

Essential Requirements

  • Knowledge of disability and special needs issues, policies and legislation in relation to employment
  • Good understanding of the principles and practice of supported employment
  • Able to use IT and tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent (vocational experience/training/ or other qualifications), evidencing excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with a range of people
  • Team orientated and works collaboratively within a mixed-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working in supported employment service and/or equivalent experience such as recruitment
  • Experience of working with people with mental health problems or a similar service user group
  • Demonstrate ability to travel flexibly within the county
  • Full /current driving license (for travel to rural / difficult to reach parts of the county)
  • Flexibility to working out of ?normal office? hours from time to time if required

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Knowledge of IPS principles and approach
  • Trained in IPS
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate
  • Experience of partnership working, negotiation and liaison work with other agencies
  • Experience of opening up job opportunities with a range of employers
  • Lived experience
