Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.

If you have answered yes, we want to hear from you as we have an excellent opportunity for a team administrator to join our LD services team at Walker Close in Ipswich.



Main duties of the job



We are looking to recruit an Administrator to join our friendly team at Walker Close. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration for the LD services teams at Walker Close. Whilst the work can be challenging, this is an excellent opportunity for the ideal candidate to gain experience within the NHS.



You should have good communication, inter-personal skills and full commitment to the care and wellbeing of patients. This post requires a confident, level-headed individual who can support a busy service in responding to changing priorities and delivering accurate work within tight deadlines.



As well as having a good standard of education, you should have relevant and recent administration experience as well as good typing skills. You must possess excellent time management skills, a positive approach and be able to remain calm under pressure. The ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise your own work is required, as is the capacity to be flexible.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


The main duties are contained within the Job Description, but the successful applicant will provide administrative support to both inpatient and community teams.



The work will be varied, it will consist of supporting both clinical and non-clinical staff, whilst ensuring that you contribute to the care of our service users.

  • NVQ 3 Business Administration or equivalent

  • Knowledge of Trust electronic records system

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages or equivalent

  • Maintaining adminisrative / secretarial systems

  • Knowledge of NHS policy / procedures.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 days after receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.



This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.



Applicant requirements



  • The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
