at University of Bristol Bristol in Bristol (Published at 20-04-2021)

The role

Applications welcome from talented software engineers with experience in developing secure communications and network applications. Here we aim to apply your skill set to help in the development of quantum photonic communication and quantum key distribution (QKD) technologies. Key project areas will be software for entanglement networks, free space QKD and satellite QKD. This opportunity is suitable for both recently qualified post-doctoral researchers and applicants that are more experienced.

What will you be doing?

As a member of the Quantum Engineering Technologies Labs (QETLabs) you will contribute to the team at Bristol working on quantum communications networking. This project feeds into the £24M EPSRC-funded Quantum Technologies Hub in Quantum Communications, and as a result, you will have the opportunity to work with theoretical and experimental researchers within the university, as well as external collaborators and industrial partners.

You should apply if

By creating drivers, encryption and decryption programs, efficient information processing and other software solutions for commercial devices and bespoke future technologies, you will contribute to innovative research in quantum communications and cryptography through the deployment of team developed innovations. Some prior experience with quantum systems or optics is welcome but not essential for this role.
