In fact, we lead the industry in commitments to sustainability and nutrition, we?re designing 100% of our packaging to be recyclable, compostable or biodegradable by 2025, removing added sugars from our beverage portfolio (67% of the portfolio will have less than 100 calories from sugar by 2025) and reducing sodium across our food portfolio (75% of the portfolio will not exceed 1.3 milligrams of sodium per calorie by 2025).

As the R&D Sr Director Flavor you will lead a highly complex and matrixed Global team. You are the single point of contact for R&D Foods Flavor & Seasoning Globally that will apply an enterprise approach to strategic portfolio management and building leverage of external partnerships. The team has direct reports in PFNA, ESSA, LATAM, APAC, and AMESA focusing on both annual innovation launches and productivity targets to meet both business cost and consumer liking targets.. In your role it's important to lead the execution of strategic workstreams end-to-end in close collaboration with internal and external cross-functional partners. Internal customers (Sectors, Global Procurement, Agro). Additionally PepsiCo will look to you to build strong relationships with regional leadership teams within and outside of R&D including regional/ local BU, Consumer insights, marketing, procurement, and Agro to drive sustainable innovation and bigger productivity initiatives. Synergize productivity initiatives across Foods with annual Target of $110MM in food.

Additional Duties:

  • Responsible for seasoning and flavor science & technology enable competitively advantaged innovation pipeline and tools to deliver perpetual cost savings & speed to market requirements.

  • Lead cross-functional teams on strategic projects, diagnosing the strategic problem, developing and communicating recommendations for implementation for portfolio transformation goals with an immediate focus on seasoning launches

  • Operates efficiently in a matrixed environment and demonstrates effective collaboration across multiple layers with direct and indirect reporting and business management across sectors.

  • Strategic mindset with an ability to think broadly, refine questions, and develop analytical frameworks

  • Ability to translate global strategic priorities into execution on global and regional level

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across various stakeholder groups; influence decisions and persuade groups on direction

  • Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences.

  • Maintain an external mindset, including staying on top of consumer, competitive, and macroeconomic / geopolitical trends

  • Comfortable leading through change and ambiguity



  • BS required in a relevant discipline (Food Science, Flavor Chemistry, etc.). Advanced degreed preferred

Basic Requirements:

  • 10+ years of R&D leadership experience in a variety of R&D and product development positions

  • Excellent leadership, communication, talent management and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to demonstrate business acumen and experience partnering with senior business leaders across key functional areas both inside and outside of R&D organization

  • Results-oriented people leader with proven ability to drive the organization towards achievement.

  • A highly integrated leader with the ability to influence the strategic direction of the organization, align business partners and senior leaders while inspiring change throughout the business teams

  • Excellent leadership, communication, talent management and interpersonal skills to build organization and industry credibility
