Installation Engineer Full Time

Location: Based in Sheffield, with nationwide travel.

Astor-Bannerman is a leading manufacturer of assisted bathing and patient transfer equipment based near Cheltenham. Working as part of our nationwide field-based engineer team, your primary tasks will be to install, service and repair a wide range of care equipment for the Social Services, Care Homes, Domestic, and Commercial markets throughout the UK.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Install, service, and repair all equipment to company standards, ensuring all necessary paperwork and certifications are completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete pre-planned service, repair and LOLER visits on in-house and other manufacturers? equipment including component identification, analysis, and rectification of the fault at the initial visit wherever possible.
  • Maintain levels of stock components and consumable materials held on the van to ensure jobs are completed at the first visit.
  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions at the Head Office or other locations as advised.
  • Provide cover, both diagnostic and administrative, for the in-house technical support line.
  • Conduct technical and basic functional training to customers and other team members when required.
  • Escalate all observed incidents and irregularities that occur through proper operational escalation points.
  • Always provide excellent customer service by being punctual and courteous, communicating promptly where delays or problems occur

Your background will include:

  • A good grounding in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience as a field-based installation or service engineer.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work unsupervised.
  • Modern IT skills across relevant applications (Excel, Word)
  • A full driving license.
  • Health and Safety focused.

And ideally?

  • Electrical skills including PAT Testing, experience in 240v AC and 12v/24v DC, and the ability to use a multimeter for AC/DC voltage testing and for continuity testing.
  • Basic plumbing skills.
  • Experience in service and LOLER of equipment.
  • Knowledge of working with multiple equipment manufacturers products within the specialist equipment market.
  • CSCS cardholder.
