We are currently recruiting for an experienced Nursery Kitchen Assistant to join Tops Day Nurseries. This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised and who enjoys cooking.

About the Nursery



Tops Stonehouse a warm, friendly nursery located in a fantastic central location meaning it is easy to find and situated perfectly for parents and carers living locally. Employees benefit from being near Wyndham Square as well as having convenient transport links, being not far from Plymouth train station and the A374.



The 80 place nursery is fortunate enough to be close to Victoria Park with its six hectares of greenland, a cycle track, playground and even a bowling green, basketball court and football pitch. The nursery run a number of extra-curricular activities including Tops Forest School, cooking school, Boogie Mites, yoga, meditation and much more!

About You



Essential skills/qualifications:


  • Basic Food Hygiene

  • Previous cooking experience

A clear and valid DBS is paramount and overseas applicants will need a clear and valid certificate of good conduct. Please note we will conduct a suitability check prior to interview.

Desirable skills/qualifications:


  • Intermediate Food Hygiene

  • Catering qualification

Your Responsibilities and Duties will involve:


  • Assist the Nursery Cook to provide enjoyable meals for children.
  • Work with the Nursery Cook to ensure food is purchased in good time and within budget.
  • Provide a safe environment within the kitchen.
  • Keep the kitchen clean and tidy (cupboards kept clean, fridge/freezer defrosted regularly, oven cleaned regularly)

  • Ensure meals are served appropriately and ready on time.
  • Involve yourself as a leading team member of food hygiene team, to ensure that all aspects of food hygiene law adhered to.
  • To be committed to the safeguarding of all children in the nursery.
