Would you like to join our friendly team at Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust as a pharmacy technician?



If you are motivated, hard working and have good communication skills with good accuracy and attention to detail, then this may be a good opportunity for you. You will need a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and you will need to be registered with the GPhC.



Please note this is a full time position on a fixed term contract for 1 year to cover maternity leave.



Main duties of the job



The main duties of the job will be to;


  • Dispense in-patient and out-patient prescriptions

  • Carry out the distribution and stock control of medicines

  • Visit designated wards and departments to liaise with medical and nursing staff in relation to the stock control and quality control of medicines

  • Liaise with ward staff and Pharmacists

Based at Hellesdon Hospital, the dispensary provides a high-quality pharmacy service to Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Trust. The dispensary currently supplies medication to a variety of wards including Adult Acute, dementia and complexity in later life, child and adolescent and forensic services. We also provide a clozapine supply service to a large number of outpatients, the majority of which is processed by our robotic dispensing machine.

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 days after receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.



This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.



Applicant requirements



  • You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

  • The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
