Job Description

We are looking for a Kit provider to join us at Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth. You will join the Kit & Test Team within the Mechanical Design Office (MDO) and report to the Team Leader.

You will be the essential link between the MDO and our Assembly, Integration & Test group (AIT) in the process of building telecom payload satellites. You will work closely with the Accommodation Responsible to ensure that all the necessary validated payload kits for each program are delivered to AIT on time and on cost.

You will need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for 3D/2D validated documentation require for Spacecraft Production

  • Responsible for the Payload and Test Bill of Materials. Equipment, Materials, Fixings, Consumables

  • Responsible for the BOM Process within the Portsmouth MDO

  • Responsible for training and the process of BOM creation and managing the training material

  • Design for Test Payload using company CAD software in accordance with Mechanical Design rules

  • Propose and implement processes in order to ease and make MDO process robust

  • Completion of design reviews in accordance with the Mechanical Design Checklist

  • Contribute to the next generation of CAD tools and processes in line with DDMS

  • Work closely with Stress Engineers, Thermal Engineers, Project Engineers, Production Engineers, Manufacturing Process Engineers and Project Managers

  • Creation and configuration of support documentation to the Production Floor

  • Responsible for the management and updates of standard parts ( Waveguide, Ancillary)

  • Support and lead the team to deliver at expected Quality, Schedule and Cost

Your role may involve occasional travel to our Stevenage and Toulouse sites.

Required Skills

  • 5 years? Experience Satellite Payload Design

  • Catia V5 and V6 skills

  • Knowledge of DDMS and Delmia

  • PDM Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Space production processes

  • Experience in leading others
