Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Ward Administrator to work on Thurne Ward at Hellesdon Hospital. Thurne Ward is a 15 bed mixed gender ward with the function of acute admission and assessment. This is a substantive full time position, working 37.5 hours per week over 5 days, Monday to Friday.

Interviews will take place on Friday 26th March. Invitations will be sent for interview via Outlook and to be completed on Microsoft Teams..

Main duties of the job

The roles and responsibility of this post include but are not exclusive to:

  • Managing incoming calls

  • Minute taking

  • Booking meetings / service user reviews

  • Processing referrals, admissions and discarges

  • Inputting into our patient system Lorenzo

  • Processing of weekly and monthly reporting

  • Liaising with other teams and agencies (internal and external)

  • Supporting across the ward admin team

  • Undertake other appropriate duties, as directed, being adaptable and flexible to service needs and changes across the care group.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook will be essential. Knowledge of the Trust system Lorenzo would be an advantage but is not essential. Training will be provided.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to a fast paced multi-disciplinary team in an inpatient ward environment. Responding to the administrative needs of the service to ensure that the requirements of the organisation are met.

Person specification


Essential criteria

  • Pitman/RSA III Typing / Word Processing or equivalent secretarial experience at advanced level.

  • NVQ L2 / L3 or NHS experience

Desirable criteria

  • NHS Trust system Lorenzo


Essential criteria

  • ICT skills including Microsoft (Work, Excel)

  • Able to coordinate and prioritise workload


Essential criteria

  • Excellent articulate communication skills.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of suppoting a team administratively

This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.
