£45,200 - £67,800 depending on skills and experience plus car entitlement and bonus

Our Renewables Operations teams are responsible for operating our onshore and offshore wind and hydro fleet safely and efficiently. We carry out essential operations and maintenance to maximise asset value in a dynamic energy market.



What is the Role?



Our Offshore Electrical Systems Manager ensures that assets are managed safely and effectively for both routine maintenance and defect resolution activities. Leading the team and managing our HV / LV electrical infrastructure, you?ll be responsible for the following:


  • implementing safe systems of work to ensure our assets are operated in line with safety legislation
  • ensuring robust and consistent maintenance practices are employed to maximise operating efficiency of our wind assets
  • providing embedded focused technical and project management support to ensure the business can meet its goals
  • engaging with multiple stakeholders, both within and out with SSE, to ensure that the offshore business can operate to the highest standards of safety and technical performance
  • identifying key budget submissions for planned and unplanned works and business improvement projects and to deliver any budget submissions within the budget year
  • providing line management responsibility for the team


What do I need?



You?ll bring demonstrable experience and a sound understanding of managing and maintaining HV electrical networks. As you?ll have responsibility for HV / LV transformers, switchgear, cable systems and generators, as well earthing, protection and converter systems, you?ll be competent in discussing the associated technology. You?ll understand and appreciate electrical safety legislation and how to implement it through recognised safe systems of work.



With proven contract and project management skills, you?ll understand the impact of operational activities on profitability and be experienced in interfacing with Joint Venture business partners.



Being degree qualified in a core engineering function or having the ability to demonstrate suitable experience in a similar role, is desirable. A background knowledge of OEM control systems and SCADA is required, and an understanding of IT, telecoms and communications would be advantageous.
