We are looking for an experienced clinical receptionist for our Acute hospital here in Bury St Edmunds.

Main duties of the job

Wedgwood House, located within the grounds of West Suffolk Hospital is looking for an extremely professional, conscientious, calm and confident individual to be a part of the Reception / Administration Team.

You must possess excellent time management skills, a positive approach and be able to remain calm under pressure. There will be, at times, face to face patient contact and the working environment can be very busy. The successful candidate will need to have the ability to confidently and sensitively deal with individuals who may sometimes be distressed or upset.

Previous administration experience is essential. Full training will be given.

We are ideally looking for a candidate with clinical experience and the ability to work on their own.

Person specification


Essential criteria

  • Diploma / equivalent secretarial experience intermediate

  • NVQ 2 Customer Services or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of Trust electronic records system


Essential criteria

  • Understanding and experience of working with a full range of secretarial proceedures and systems gained through practice at intermediate level

  • Working on own initiative with minimal supervision. Working under pressure.

  • Ability to work with senior members of staff across a large organisation.


Essential criteria

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages or equivalent

  • Maintaining adminisrative / secretarial systems

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of NHS policy / procedures.

This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.
