Stowood needs someone to help with engineering a good night?s sleep.

Stowood is a small but fast growing innovative MedTech company founded in 1992 and averaging double digit growth over the last few years. We create instruments to measure sleep and breathing. From the home to the largest hospitals, our instrument hardware track parameters such as heart and breathing rate, ECG, and many others. Stowood?s equipment enables clinicians and researchers to analyse and diagnose sleep and respiratory disorders, allowing our patients to lead a better life.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Electronic Engineer to lead the product development function of new ambulatory medical devices and join a dynamic and friendly team. This is a hands-on engineering role with a chance to work closely with clients to research, design, develop and test new MedTech devices and develop a stream of new products to be ready to market. You will be joining a close-knit team of supportive individuals, so we are looking for a like-minded individual.

The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO (UK based) and will start as soon as possible.


  • Lead the product development process of new MedTech electronic devices including concept design, hardware prototyping, manufacturing readiness in line with budget and timeframe requirements.
  • Recruit and manage subcontractors where required for mechanical engineering, manufacturing, assembly and testing.
  • Work with clients to ensure product specs meet their requirements and with medical personnel for clinical trials.
  • Lead embedded firmware design and programming
  • Manage compliance documentation to meet medical regulatory requirement & provide support for the service team when required
  • Perform or manage risk management
  • Help after sales support team with technical queries when required

Essential Requirements:

  • A Higher National Diploma or degree in electronics engineering
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design, PCB layout, firmware
  • Strong project management, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with ?whole design? requirements, including mechanical design and manufacturing processes

Desirable Requirements

  • Medical electronics engineering experience
  • Some knowledge of mechanical engineering
  • A good sense of humour to fit in within our small team
  • Project management experience of device production and regulation within the medical device industry

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £36,266.00-£65,754.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
Working from home during lockdown. After lockdown moving to our newly renovated R&D office just five miles outside Oxford, with views over the fields and historic Otmoor. Working from home possible for a couple of days per week.
