The 2017 City of Culture, Kingston-upon-Hull has more to offer than first meets the eye. Hull University Teaching Hospitals has benefited from increased funding allowing for the development of new Emergency Care facilities for both adults and children, as well as the renovation of the main tower block at the Hull Royal Infirmary site. At the Castle Hill Hospital site, the Oncology and Haematology Centre provides specialised care to 1.2 million patients from across the region. There is also a new cardiac and elective surgery facility which provides specialist cardiothoracic care to patients from across Yorkshire.



The pharmacy team is both ambitious and motivated, focusing our work around the best interests of our patients and continually striving to improve the services we offer. We have developed close links with the City Health Care Partnership and work together to provide medicines optimisation and clinical medication review to patients within the intermediate care setting.



We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team of band 7 pharmacists. The role is primarily ward based with opportunities to rotate through different clinical areas including Acute Medicine, Medical Elderly, Stroke, Neurology, Endocrinology, Surgery (both acute and specialist), Cardiology, Respiratory and Renal Medicine. There may be opportunities to work in specialist areas including cancer services, aseptics and medicines information. We have recently been able to secure specialist rotations for our pharmacists to work with providers in primary care. These highly sort after rotations allow pharmacists to gain experience working across different care settings with a focus on medicines optimisation in care homes and frailty.



HUTH is a supportive environment, pharmacists have access to senior mentors who can support them throughout their clinical rotations. The Pharmacy department supports regular supervision in practice to ensure that pharmacists can develop their clinical skills and work to their full potential. The Trust is keen to support professional development of the entire pharmacy workforce and you will be expected to support, motivate and engage with others, we encourage and support training in Non-Medical Prescribing.



You will be expected to provide a clinical pharmacy service to allocated wards and offer advice to medical, nursing, other healthcare staff and patients on all aspects of the safe & effective use of medicines. This includes facilitating reconciliation, discharge planning and patient counselling. The pharmacy team has a wide range of qualified staff including technicians who will assist you in your day to day role, as well as assistants and apprentices who provide additional support to wards and patients.
