PLA/1281 Travel Advisor Supervisor Full Time

at Plymouth City Council Plymouth in Plymouth (Published at 20-01-2021)

Travel Advisor Supervisor
Based in multiple locations across Plymouth including local neighbourhood offices and Ballard House

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Sustainable Transport Team for an enthusiastic person keen to lead a small team working in a customer facing role outdoors and in various locations across the City.

We are recruiting a committed and enthusiastic Travel Advisor Supervisor who will lead the team providing one to one support for people in Plymouth, at their homes, in their workplaces and at events; offering Personalised Travel Planning (PTP), information and incentives to help people get out and about in Plymouth as part of the Council?s Plymotion campaign.

When it is not possible to visit homes and workplaces and attend events due to Covid-19, our PTP service will be offered by telephone with the Team working either from home or an office base. The successful candidate will be provided with a laptop and associated equipment to enable home working.

Plymotion is a Department for Transport (DfT) funded project aimed at encouraging people to lead more active, healthier lifestyles while helping Plymouth to become a more sustainable city. Plymotion on Your Doorstep is the residential PTP campaign. Since 2012, through this project, we have visited more than 86,000 households in the city and the next phase of the programme includes an additional 3,000 homes to be visited during summer 2021.

We will also be working with a wide range of businesses to deliver PTP to employees through Plymotion at Your Workplace as well as working with other external agencies to help support people trying to access employment, education and training, alongside an extensive events programme.

More information about Plymotion is available at www.plymouth.gov.uk/plymotion.

The post provides an exciting opportunity for someone looking to enhance their management skills and to make a real impact on how people travel in the City. If you enjoy leading people, providing motivation and training to allow tasks to be completed to a high standard, have a passion for sustainable transport and customer service, and understand the importance of making it easier for people to access work, education, healthcare and leisure opportunities by sustainable transport, we?d like to hear from you.

The person we are looking for will have a professional approach, with excellent communication, organisation and time management skills, be a leader, as well as a team player, and have an ability to absorb and effectively communicate information accurately to different audiences. Good local knowledge and some supervisory experience would be helpful.

The successful applicant will be expected to use sustainable transport when delivering PTP and the posts require some evening and weekend working. The position is available for immediate start (subject to pre-employment checks).
