Purchasing Business Apprenticeship – Level 6 (degree)

The Indirect Purchasing team in Plant Oxford is a part of the Munich-based M-Division called Purchasing and Supplier Network. As the name suggests, it takes care of all purchasing tasks except for the direct components included in a finished vehicle. It handles tasks such as conveyors, paintshop equipment, containers, test and measuring equipment, and also support services such as maintenance, catering, cleaning and training. The team is responsible not just for Plant Oxford but also the Hams Hall engine plant, Swindon pressings, the Rolls-Royce factory, and the sales and marketing function.

The tasks of the department are to source these goods and services to the required quality, with the required delivery timing, at the best price. The team therefore works closely with the business partners to ensure that this happens. The role of an apprentice in the department will be to assist buyers with purchasing in various commodity fields, involving contact with external suppliers, to carry out supporting activities for the department e.g., data collection and analysis, presentation preparation, organising events and meetings, and to be fully involved in departmental activities such as teambuilding and improvement measures.

You will need to be enthusiastic and well-disciplined as our apprenticeship is heavily focused on attitude and behaviour. In addition, you need to exhibit initiative, and to be reliable and conscientious. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to think logically and to work both independently and as part of a team.

Whilst developing specialist, on-the-job knowledge, you will also undertake a BA (Hons) in Management and Business, during your apprenticeship which is fully funded by the company.
