Main Purpose
You w ill maintain, inspect, install, repair, replace and modify liquid fuel storage and distribution systems and their electrical
components. Inspects and tests fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities and performs preventative maintenance on
fuel systems and components. Performs all phases of liquid fuel system and component maintenance including preventative
maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and modif ication. Troubleshoots and repairs problems in the electrical components of
liquid fuel distribution systems. Participates in cleaning interior of bulk storage tanks, above and below ground, by entering
tanks. Utilizes safety practices and procedures follow ing established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and
clean w ork environment.
Knowledge and Experience Required
In your application please provide detailed work experience as it relates to the required competencies listed
below, as this w ill be used to determine your qualification for this position.
1. Must have NVQ/City and Guilds Level 2 Welding and Mechanical Engineering certif ication, or HND/HNC/BTEC, or
equivalent in an appropriate discipline. **Please submit a copy with the application form in order to validate this
requirement**
2. Must have know ledge and documented experience of fuel distribution and storage systems ; of the physical
properties and hazards associated w ith the handling of various types of petroleum fuels; and of preventative
maintenance and inspection techniques as applied to fuel distribution and storage systems.
3. Know ledge and experience of the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical components such as
electric motors, disconnect sw itches, starters, contractors, solenoids and magnetic sw itches.
4. Must have know ledge of and experience applying safety regulations, procedures and practices.
5. Must be able to calibrate fuel dispensing systems, tank and pressure gauges.
6. Skill in techniques used to measure, cut, thread, join and f it piping and tubing.
7. Must be able to analyze deficiencies and diagnose malfunctions of system components such as automatic
control valves.
Other Important Information
1. Shift w ork may be required.
2. The employee may be required to w ork other than normal duty hours, w hich may include evening, w eekends, and/or
holidays.
3. The w ork may require that the employee be certif ied in the use of a respirator.
4. Must be able to w ork in confined spaces and must pass C53 (confined space level3) certif ication in order to w ork in
high risk confines spaces.
5. Must be able to use full w orking breathing apparatus in the event of an emergency.
6. The w ork may require that the employee be certif ied or be able to be certif ied as qualif ied for entry into hazardous
liquid fuel tanks for inspection, cleaning and repair.
7. An appropriate, valid driver?s license is required for the position.
8. May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
9. Please note that this position may be coded as mission essential.
