Business Consultant Full Time

My client is a successful Business Consultancy offering expert advice and guidance on Research and Development Tax Credits. They have over 20 years? experience of investigating, analysing and preparing reports that have generated over £10 million of corporation tax savings/rebates for an impressive portfolio of clients across Northern Ireland, ROI and the UK.

Companies that show innovation, develop new products/concepts or processes or incorporate environmental features into designs may unknowingly be demonstrating real R&D?.it isn?t restricted to people wearing white coats in labs. My client specialises in helping these companies claim substantial rebates back from HMRC in compliance with current tax legislation.

Due to continued business growth they seek to appoint a Business Consultant / Technical Consultant to directly support the MD whilst working as part of a small team of specialists. This promises to be an interesting and varied role, meeting a wide range of companies in the IT / Software and Technology sectors.

You will visit client sites or conduct on-line meetings to enable you to better understand their services, products, procedures, processes and protocols. You will discuss potential areas of innovation, questioning and fact-finding with developers, technicians and financial staff. You will gather, record and take notes of all conversations to enable you to give an accurate, detailed synopsis/snapshot of the business and its R&D activities.

You will also carry out on-line research and gather industry specific data to compliment your findings in a technical report that you will write/collate for submission to the HMRC. The R&D project report will also include the preparation of costings for grant applications. Figures will be produced with assistance from the MD who is a well-respected Chartered Accountant / Chartered Tax Adviser.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to build rapport with clients and be adept at using Microsoft Office package with proven administration/data input ability. You will have the ability to absorb technical data from a wide variety of sources, industries, then produce a well written, accurate technical report that presents your evidence (in layman?s terms) to ensure adherence with HMRC claim guidelines.

Key Requirements -

- To demonstrate a good understanding of and have a strong interest in software and IT matters. This could include, for example, experience with programming languages in a non-work environment or assisting with software implementations

- Ability to relate to different development technologies and methodologies and to be able to discuss these at a knowledgeable level

- Strong report writing skills, good attention to detail and first-time accuracy

- Interact well with technical professionals and have strong interpersonal skills

- Ability to work in a consulting environment within a small team

Desirable Criteria -

- Preferably have a computing or ICT related degree, or equivalent qualification

- Practical work experience within a software or IT role

- Live in Northern Ireland, although candidates from further afield will also be considered.

My client is offering a starting salary to £30,000 depending on skills and experience. 35 days holiday (including statutory and bank holidays) are offered, laptop, etc. Office hours are 9am to 5.15pm Monday to Friday. Candidates should have access to their own car, mileage allowance will be paid. Funded opportunity to train for a professional tax qualification.

Offices are based in North Down, however due to current safety measures, you can work remotely as part of a wider team-based consultancy environment. Full training will be provided on joining the company and initially you will be work closely with our software specialist.
