Quantity Surveyor Full Time

Division: UK Telecoms

The Quantity Surveyor will work within the Project Team Completing Build Tenders and management of project costs.

Need to Have

  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying and /or Civil Engineering.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a successful career history with a minimum of 3 years? experience in estimating within the Building or Civil Engineering sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous Experience in Power & Telecoms Industry an advantage but not essential
  • Advanced Excel user with experience of Estimating software packages an advantage
  • Familiar with Microsoft Project
  • Experience with FIDIC and NEC3 contracts an advantage

Need to Do

  • Responsible for all aspects of the estimate working from first principles
  • Reviews proposal specifications and drawings, attends pre-bid meetings etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Provides complete conceptual bid work, and final estimating input on project.
  • Provides technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids.
  • Ensures all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
  • Advises Department Manager as to cost and schedule fluctuations, improved material, or other factors affecting construction.
  • Explores Value Engineering for all applicable projects or situations.
  • Responsible for contract analysis and review of tenders.
  • May assist Departmental Manager in the coordination of overall corporate estimating functions, including systems development and staff training.
  • Maintain costs database for the Project

  • Strong communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Must take ownership for tasks and responsibilities
  • Able to operate in a dynamic and fast paced organization
  • Proficient people manager and able to manage team to optimum performance
  • Detailed orientated with proven organisational ability
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Willing to travel when required

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £35,000.00-£42,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • estimating within the Building or Civil Engineering sectors: 3 years (Required)
  • FIDIC and NEC3 contracts : 1 year (Preferred)

Licence:

  • Quantity Surveying and /or Civil Engineering (Required)
