About the Role
Data has recently become a key focus area for improvement in Cadent and a Data Engineer will ensure the systems and structures in place support the requirements of key stakeholders to create single versions of the truth, and subsequently make sure every stakeholder is using the same source of data for key questions and KPIs. Data Engineer will be expected to make recommendations on how to improve data reliability and transfer efficiency, and how to minimise the strain placed on the system by BAU activities.
This role will sit within the Advanced Analytics Team.

This role will sit within the Advanced Analytics Team.
Key Accountabilities:
- Construct and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture ensuring data quality is maintained at every stage of transformation throughout the IT infrastructure
- Make recommendations on how to improve data reliability and transfer efficiency, and how to minimise the strain placed on the system by BAU activities
- Assemble complex data sets to meet business requirements
- Identify, design and implement internal process improvements, such as automation, optimising data delivery and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability
- Build analytics tools which utilise the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer experience and key business KPIs
- Champion the value proposition for data engineering and its purpose within Cadent
Provide fourth line support to operational teams
- Support other members of the team as and when required
About You
You will possess the following skills, knowledge and qualifications:
- Educated to Bachelor?s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a relevant field
Strong knowledge of building, testing and optimising big data pipelines, architectures and data sets
Demonstrable experience analysing volumes of data through basic MS Excel
Experience of using Cloud computing databases, including AWS Data Warehouse
Experience of managing projects using a variety of methodologies, such as Prince2 or Agile
Knowledge of server reporting services, such as Tableau analysis services, Salesforce or Power BI
Strong analytics skills working with unstructured data sets, e.g. freeform text and email content
- Advanced working SQL knowledge across relational databases and query authoring, in MySQL and MS SQL
- Excellent project management and organisational skills
- Working knowledge of internet technologies, such as SaaS, IaaS and PaaS
- System management expertise, including: monitoring, disaster recovery, backup, automated testing, automated schema migration, continuous deployment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to design, build and maintain an ETL pipeline and data warehouse
