Warehouse Operations Manager ? Logistics Services - Rugby
The Warehouse Operations Manager for the Support Distribution Centre is a key role in the Rugby Logistics Services operation. You will be responsible for directing the activities of the warehouse including staffing, supervision, utilisation of space, equipment, and manpower. You should be able to effectively manage and ensure a consistent level of service is provided to our Dealers and customers. You will be responsible for balancing resource levels in order to maintain our performance levels, manage performance of both individuals and services to agreed levels and implement change to achieve operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To optimise performance across all operational processes

  • To ensure the warehouse operations team work and act according to targets set, designed processes, procedures and Logistics Services and Volvo culture & values

  • To create a strong team spirit through a culture of open and respectful dialogue and to challenge the team to achieve results and go beyond.

  • To effectively manage and lead the team to ensure that all work is delivered in line with service level agreements and performance standards.

  • To actively manage individual and team performance to include, disciplinary and absence management, regular one to one meetings, performance reviews, and providing regular feedback to team members.

  • To train, coach and develop team members as required to maximise competence, potential and performance
  • To plan and manage employee training and personal development

  • To ensure strong communication channels are implemented and maintained to ensure the team are aware of all relevant business related communications covering corporate and local updates.

  • To actively promote a culture that delivers high performance, motivation and engagement through effective leadership.

  • To undertake individual performance and development reviews with team members

  • To work actively with Volvo Production System towards World class and develop and achieve operational KPI´s

  • To continuously work with improving processes to reach a robust and lean operation, fit to meet customer expectations

  • To support ergonomic, quality and productivity working methods, in order to increase effectiveness

  • To collaborate cross functionally, with Service Centers, Business Control, Process community and Volvo Production System ( VPS) team, to ensure optimal operations

  • To actively participate in networks within Logistics Services to benchmark, introduce and share best practices

  • To identify and resolve risk/safety incidents and manage relevant risk/safety controls in line with company policy

  • Experience of managing a team within a busy operational capacity. Previous experience in warehousing and logistics management is desirable.

  • Experience of coaching diverse, multi-functional teams

  • Experience of working in a target driven environment centred on customer delivery.

  • Analytical with the ability to manage key performance indicators (KPI's) that drive maximum productivity, quality and service.

  • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring Ability to collaborate effectively with other functions within the organization

  • Evidence of strong performance management to deliver high performing teams

  • Excellent time management / organisational skills ? ability to manage / prioritise workloads

  • Ability in being able to deliver tactical plans to deliver objectives in a timely manner.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) with influencing skills.

  • Ability to remain resilient in a challenging environment.

  • Using and understanding core systems within the operational and administrative environment
