Project Accountant HS2 Full Time

Ihre Aufgaben


We are looking for a Project Accountant to work on HS2 Main Works. As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Project Accountant with the focus on costs charged within the Area team. The role reports directly to the Senior Project Accountant.

Key Responsibilities


  • Project Accounting ? integrity of costs, revenue ledgers and transaction processing
  • Management of accounting systems and processes including reconciliation of records and system access

  • Maintenance of sound financial controls, in line with JV guidelines, ensuring that all applicable requirements can be met at all times

Material/Plant Costs & Invoices

  • Weekly update on all external hired plant and equipment liabilities and reporting accordingly

  • Ensure the process of verification and reconciliation of all supplier invoices is in place and carried out accurately

  • Support reporting of Fair Payment Charter for all invoices relating to Area Team

Month End Processes

  • Coding reviews and requests for coding corrections

  • Monthly Cost accruals; including staff charges and other staff related accruals

  • Dealing with requests for information, back up documents for the Commercial team

  • Timely production of accurate relevant monthly financial information to the Commercial team

  • Preparing and posting accurate Journals, Accruals and Prepayments in line with Accounting policies, and accurate cost allocation
  • Understanding of project balance sheet controls and where required prepare reconciliations


  • Support process of raising applications to the client

  • Managing Assistant Project Accountant/s
  • Assist with managing audits on site (internal & external) and ensure any outstanding issues are closed out

  • Ad-hoc exercises as required.

Ihre Qualifikationen

Required qualifications, skills, behaviours and attributes


  • Part- Qualified Accountancy qualification ? ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Experience in a finance role within the construction industry
  • Minimum level - Intermediate Excel skills
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and computer systems.

  • Self-starter, organised, with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload to meet business deadlines & needs.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.


  • Experience in project based finance

  • Business qualification
