You will construct, install, repair, and modify wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness. You will repair all types of roofing consisting of asphalt, all types of tile, slate, roll roofing, felts and shingles, all types of metal roofing. Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair and modify a wide variety of structures. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment. Uses and maintains tools.


1. NVQ Level 2 in carpentry/roofing is required. Copy must be submitted with application in order to validate requirement
2. Must have experience with installing new roofing materials and with the repair of leaky roofing.
3. Knowledge of and experience complying with safety regulations, practices and procedures is desired.
4. Knowledge of advanced shop mathematics to plan, computer, and lay out more complex and exact projects, and of regulations, procedures and policies related to records maintenance and documentations is desired.

5. Must have experience using and maintaining a variety of power, hand tools and equipment.
6. Must have experience with constructing, repairing, installing and modifying wood structures.
7. Knowledge of interpreting complex instructions; sketches, blueprints, and building codes.
8. Ability to effectively demonstrate and train less experienced crafts persons to carry out carpentry/roofing work needed within a timely manner.

1. The work will require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver?s license is required for the position. You will also be required to drive other vehicles like uprights/man lifts.
2. Shift work may be required, or other working hours if needed to carry out works required.
3. May be required to be certified for working with/or removing hazardous material.
4. Relevant carpentry/roofing experience is essential.
