Marketing & Communications Director Full Time

Position Summary

Head of the Marketing & Communications function for the European segment of the CNA group, providing team management and overall direction for marketing strategy and business communications activities. The role will work closely with Head of Distribution and Marketing Europe and Head of Marketing in the US to implement brand and marketing strategies and align the marketing and communications strategy with the objectives of CNA Financial. Responsible for managing a small team and delivering an effective service proposition to support business priorities including online presence, events and product launches. Responsibility for managing internal and external communications, creating and delivering compelling messaging in support of the company?s goals.

Operations and position responsibilities span the UK, Continental Europe and Lloyd?s business. CNA Europe writes 30 broad classes of business across Property, Casualty, Energy and Marine, Healthcare and Technology and Specialty.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

Marketing Leadership

Execute strategy that aligns with market positioning of the organisation overall

Lead creation and execution of a cohesive marketing plan across UK and Europe to support plan delivery, ensuring consistent messaging but tailored to each territory

Promote position as the industry?s thought leader through integrated campaigns including collateral, digital and social media, industry events and advertising/public relations

Direct and lead a world-class marketing team to execute on strategies and plans that support the go-to-market strategy.

Formulate innovative ways to position and promote our solutions/products that facilitate and increase sales and support client retention including lead generation campaigns, targeted events, internal growth initiatives, support of industry associations and centres of influence that align under the go-to-market strategy

Develop value proposition communication and understanding, supporting field with consistent articulation at the point of sale for CNAH products and services

Lead creation and execution of a cohesive marketing plan across UK and Europe to support plan delivery, ensuring consistent messaging but tailored to each territory

Support sales/pipeline development through execution of effective reporting, analysis and metrics specific to marketing efforts

Coordinated positioning in the context of the brand strategy of CNA Financial

External Communications

Work with Executive team to set strategy and develop messaging that aligns with our corporate positioning

Design and execute highly-effective messaging, positioning and outbound multi-channel marketing communications strategies that are accretive to the go-to-market plan

Manage reputational issues and media reporting

Internal Communications

Create internal messaging that promotes our culture, engages colleagues, and supports overall business objectives. This requires translating and segmenting the company?s business objectives into genuine, inspiring, and impactful communications for colleagues

Develop and lead execution of communications for the intranet, employee town hall meetings, company newsletters, and other related activities to deliver messaging

Coordinate with and leverage off CNA Financial initiatives in order to present consistent messaging and communications

Competitive Analysis & Market Awareness

Develop and maintain a clear understanding of external market needs in an international environment and the company?s competition to ensure we remain in front of client needs and market demands

Service proposition

Develop and run a clear and consistent marketing service proposition that supports the requirements of the UK and European segment

Deliver continuous improvement with the marketing proposition including measurability of impact, process and operational efficiency and expense management

Education & Experience

Circa. 8 years practical marketing and communications experience, preferably in an insurance company or broker.

Experience motivating and managing a small team.

Capable of managing and working in a matrix environment.

Influential and highly capable functional expert who will bring breadth of knowledge, strategic vision, intellectual bandwidth and interpersonal skills.

A strong technical background, comfortable working in ambiguous environment

Ability to improve and develop function and work within existing parameters, while retaining an intellectually creative approach to seize opportunities to improve.

Capable of galvanising the different business segments to deliver a joined up message that showcases us as the number one solutions provider.

Possess sufficient gravitas and experience to be immediately credible and accepted by the business

Knowledge of business-related software such as Salesforce and Marketo (or equivalent marketing automation programs).

Able to navigate potentially challenging parties such as media, market, clients, regulators

Ability to adapt approach for effective use in multiple international markets.
