This is a great opportunity to be part of our Primary Care Division responsible for Maintenance, Refurbishment and Development of our GP Practices, predominantly across 14 Central London sites.



Job Description

As our Lead Engineer you will be responsible for day to day management of GP Practices facilities and addressing any issues as they arise. You wlll also have line management of an additional team maintenance member to help and support you in the daily tasks.



Good relationship management with contractors, building agents and their engineering teams will be key to success in meeting the role requirements coupled with extensive General Maintenance knowledge. A real team player will fit in well with in to practices to support our medical teams to continue to deliver outstanding care in plus, private patient suites.


  • We are offering the right individual a permanent contract

  • 40 hours per week - Mon-Fri. There may be occasional out of hours, but this should only be on-call by phone emergency situations, as our GP sites are closed evenings and weekends. Should the emergency require a call out, time in attendance will be paid back in lieu.

  • Salary guide C£35000-£40000 dependant upon experience. but there is increase flexibility on this package for right person.

Duties & Responsibilities

A typical day might look like;


  • Leading on regular checks and assessments of patient rooms, clinical and public areas, Carry out skilled general maintenance work at all sites and performing jobs as and when they are required with your assistant.·

  • Draft and maintain a comprehensive PPM schedule that covers all aspects of mechanical, electrical and water safety

  • Ensure risk assessment action plans (H & S, Water and Fire safety) are actively managed and controlled

  • Spot risk assessments, advising the management on legislative and preventive actions.

  • Ensure rapid response and closure of planned and unplanned emergency maintenance · To identify and cost materials, with responsibility for low cost ordering ·

  • Liaise with and supervise external contractors and monitor work performance · General DIY and maintenance including electrical, basic carpentry, plumbing, replacement of tiling and flooring, painting and decorating

  • Provide guidance and direction to the direct report colleague, supervising weekly task lists · Work with the Operations Administrator on review of the Facilities Log and planning actions and 3rd party contractor job assignment ·

  • Support the Operational Services Manager on cost control and validation of quotation acceptance. · Work as a key team member of the overall Ops team division, supporting peers and colleagues

  • Daily use an electronic system for logging/ reporting/ signing ?off tasks via a tablet


Skills & Experience



Our ideal candidates will have;



Electrical, Mechanical and/or General Maintenance Qualifications
Experienced Maintenance background in a business environment- Healthcare Maintenance Industry, desirable but not essential
Supervisory experience
Excellent IT skills for logging and reporting tasks
Pro-active ability to lead and manage own daily activities and complete tasks to the highest of standards
Possess clear. friendly and precise communication skills
