Teacher of Business and/or Economics

Start date: September 2019 or January 2020
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Generous, accommodation provided

We are looking to appoint an academic graduate or teacher of Business and/ or economics from September or January.

The ability to teach Business in GCSE and A-Level and Economics up to A Level. Previous experience of teaching Level 3 BTEC is advantageous but not essential. The new teacher of Business and/or Economics can expect to join a thriving and successful department.

The school is a co-educational day and boarding school, catering to roughly 750 pupils aged 11- 18. The school is set on a 200 acre site, with excellent facilities and grad development plans for the future. The school achieves well academically and also has enjoyed success in sport; reaching national acclaim for multiple sports across the school in the last year.

Economics and Business Studies used to be separate departments but merged in 2017. The department currently contains five teachers with varying levels of experience. The department is currently looking to move to be paperless in line with the school's medium-term development aims. Despite the school having a long and established history, they have a modern approach to teaching and make use of technology to a large extent across the school. Business Studies is a popular subject taught at the school and pupil uptake numbers at GCSE are large, typically being over 100. Many of those students who take the subject at GCSE continue the subject through to the Sixth Form. The department teaches the Edexcel specification at both GCSE and A Level. The department also launched a Level 3 BTEC for Business Studies which has proven to be popular. The economics department currently teaches the Edexcel Economics A-level course to two sets of students both in Year 12 and Year 13.
